{"id":691,"date":"2025-04-03T11:45:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T11:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gogetterlifestylebrand.com\/?p=691"},"modified":"2025-04-07T11:33:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T11:33:59","slug":"united-receives-faa-certification-on-starlink-equipped-aircraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gogetterlifestylebrand.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/03\/united-receives-faa-certification-on-starlink-equipped-aircraft\/","title":{"rendered":"United receives FAA certification on Starlink-equipped aircraft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United Airlines announced Monday that the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5175443-faa-essential-employees-fired\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5175443-faa-essential-employees-fired\/\">Federal Aviation Administration<\/a> (FAA)\u00a0approved its first <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5193227-faa-starlink-investigation-conflict\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5193227-faa-starlink-investigation-conflict\/\">Starlink-equipped aircraft<\/a> type allowing passengers to have access to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5069217-united-airlines-starlink-wi-fi\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5069217-united-airlines-starlink-wi-fi\/\">high-speed Wi-Fi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first commercial flight will be on the United Express Embraer 175 scheduled for May.  <\/p>\n<p>The Chicago-based airline plans to install Starlink into over 300 planes by the end of the year after <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/business\/4879776-united-airlines-starlink-wifi\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/business\/4879776-united-airlines-starlink-wifi\/\">inking a deal<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know customers are going to love this experience, and we think it will give them yet another reason to choose United,&#8221;\u00a0Grant Milstead, United&#8217;s vice president of Digital Technology, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/united-receives-faa-certification-on-starlink-aircraft-and-schedules-first-commercial-flight-for-may-2025-302415153.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/united-receives-faa-certification-on-starlink-aircraft-and-schedules-first-commercial-flight-for-may-2025-302415153.html\">said in a press release.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re working closely with Starlink and the FAA to finish installs on our regional fleet this year and bring the best inflight experience in the sky to more and more people,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Starlink is a satellite internet service led by Elon Musk&#8217;s SpaceX. <span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">The satellites, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/space\/how-to-see-starlink-satellites-near-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">initially launched<\/a>\u00a0in 2019, allow broadband internet use for customers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The partnership&#8217;s roll out comes after\u00a0Campaign Legal Center, a watchdog group, asked the Transportation Department\u2019s inspector general <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5193227-faa-starlink-investigation-conflict\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5193227-faa-starlink-investigation-conflict\/\">to investigate<\/a> whether the FAA&#8217;s business with\u00a0Starlink violates conflict of interest laws.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United Airlines announced Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)\u00a0approved its first Starlink-equipped aircraft type allowing passengers to have access to high-speed Wi-Fi.
